Causes Of Alopecia - What You Must Know About Hair Loss

Male pattern baldness has been linked to both male sex hormones and your genetic makeup. It basically follows a common pattern of generalized hair thinning and a receding hair line on top of the head. Every time there is a hair break, a small cavity in the scalp (at the base of the follicle) becomes a new hair follicle. However, as we grow older, the follicles get smaller and eventually die off. When this happens, the follicles lay down thick hair strands similar to what a woman would experience during menstruation. If you are experiencing thinning now, but plan to start seeing more hair in a few years, it's best to consult with a dermatologist or other expert so that they can properly assess the situation and offer treatment accordingly.

The treatments for baldness include topical solutions and drugs. Topical solutions, such as minoxidil, are used to treat baldness on a localized basis. For example, if you notice that your hair is thinning, you may try applying a topical solution containing minoxidil directly to the affected areas. If the follicles are dead, this will cause hair growth but otherwise, the follicles won't be affected.

A less extreme form of baldness treatment involves hair replacement. This may involve the use of hair implants or scalp reduction procedures. If you're not keen on surgical options, you can always opt for non-surgical hair replacement treatments, which are quite natural-looking, albeit somewhat costly.

The more common type of baldness is called alopecia and it affects the scalp. It is also called male pattern baldness, female pattern baldness, and progressive hair loss. This type of baldness results from the normal genetic process called telogen effluvium. As telogen effluvium normally goes away after a few months or years, it often occurs in cycles. With chronic hair loss, the hair follicles will go into a resting phase which causes the hair to fall out.

In most cases, medical conditions are the root cause of baldness. These include thyroid problems and pituitary gland tumors, hormonal imbalances due to menopause, menopausal issues, and diseases that affect the immune system. Additionally, medicines such as chemotherapy and high blood pressure can also result in hair loss.

If you have alopecia, you'll need to follow a customized treatment plan in order to prevent further hair loss. One of the first steps you'll need to take is to find out the underlying medical condition causing your baldness. From there, you can determine the best way to care for yourself so that you avoid further hair loss. In many cases, baldness can be successfully treated with natural remedies that don't require you to wear hats or use wigs.
